Who says you have to be polite! Seriously this is one that makes a really angry – a child running up to a “cute” dog can very quickly turn that dog into a “cute but bitey” dog who is aggressive towards children. This can happen even after one unfortunate encounter between a dog and child. And it is always the dog who pays – with their life. Did you know that 99% of aggression is due to fear? The only option I think is to keep your wits about you and get bossy with the kids and adults around you. Always insist that people ask first before touching your dog, and mention to them that the safest place to touch a dog is under the chin, on the chest and on the body. It is really dangerous to give dogs a fright. Your dog. Your rules!
