We have recently got a puppy, when should we introduce her to a groomer?
The earlier you introduce your dog to the groomer the better. Once they are safe to go out and have had their inoculations they should be in to the groomers monthly until they are six months old. Once this age is achieved, the first hair cut will be an easy and pleasurable experience for the groomer and the dog. To introduce your puppy to a groomer at 8 months and to expect a show cut is unreasonable.
As with the vet I found slowly introducing my dog to any (potentially stressful) situation slowly and building up her confidence and rewarding calm behaviour with lots of treats.
Our Pup absolutely loves her groomer. She comes to our home with lots of treats and times when she has been unavailable we have taken her to a place in Greenwich which she is also happy with. I believe because her first introduction was at home with no stress
