Dog Grooming is an unregulated industry and as such is open to exploitation. Anyone that owns a pair of scissors can say that they are dog groomers and charge you for a dogs hair cut. Its ludicrous. Grooming is an incredibly skilled industry and deserves to be treated as such. A razor sharp blade and a wriggly dog is not a match made in heaven and so to practice safely certain standards should be met in my view. That is why Julie Harris and I launched The groomers Spotlight. A register of Fully Qualified Groomers in the UK.
